They need to understand that alcoholism won't do no good to their health, and would cause them to do bad things. The truth is that only 5% of people who go to treatment and "work" a program of recovery stay around longer then a year. It is mostly mind control base on lies or half truths developed by Bill W.'s  addled brain. Thank you~&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;As an intervention specialist I can attest to the damage this disease heaps on individuals, families, businesses and society at large.  The cost is immeasurable.  Sadly, people still wish to view this disease as a behavioral or social failing and they do not deal with it early, aggressively or professionally.  The disease advances and becomes harder to treat and by the time people realize how bad things are they are too angry, isolated, frustrated, sick or poor to get help.  It doesn't need to be this way and your article is a great start in moving people towards seeking help.
